Santa Barbara Symphony Welcomes Violinist Steve Zander to its Board of Directors

The Santa Barbara Symphony welcomes Steve Zander to its Board of Directors in the role of Orchestra Committee Chair, Musician Liaison.

(October 8, 2021) Santa Barbara, CA – The Santa Barbara Symphony welcomes Steve Zander to its Board of Directors in the role of Orchestra Committee Chair, Musician Liaison. This appointment reflects the shared commitment of the entire organization to expand its community impact and deliver on the Symphony’s mission to bring joy, engagement, and connection through symphonic music.

Zander chairs the Orchestra Committee, which is comprised of fellow musicians Jon Lewis (Principal trumpet), Bethany Mennemeyer (violin), Dustin McKinney (trumpet), Eddie Meneses (Erik Rynearson (Principal viola), and Ina Veli (Assistant Concertmaster, violin). The Orchestra Committee represents the interests of the orchestra members, and was instrumental in navigating a myriad of atypical changes needed to bring to life our recent virtual season, as one of the only orchestras in the world to perform safely together. As a member of the Board of Directors, Zander adds a cohesive voice that contributes to the board’s leadership objectives.

Violinist Steve Zander joined the Santa Barbara Symphony in 2012 and can be heard on many motion picture soundtracks, including A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place II, Batman vs. Superman, and Logan . He has also performed with the Pasadena Symphony, New West Symphony, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, and Pacific Symphony. and serves as the Associate Concertmaster of Opera Santa Barbara. Zander is also an avid distance runner and loves to spend his free time hiking and exploring remote places like Patagonia, New Zealand, and southern Utah. He lives in Malibu with his wife, Maia, and their dachshund mix, Winston.
