A love forbidden. A love immortal. The greatest moments from Prokofiev’s greatest ballet—the ardent Romeo and Juliet performed with grace and passion by dancers from State Street Ballet on the Granada stage. These concerts—and the season—begin as Nir Kabaretti and the Santa Barbara Symphony perform Shostakovich’s spirited Festive Overture and Rachmaninoff’s late, luxuriant Symphonic Dances

State Street Ballet

State Street Ballet is a renowned international dance company based in the vibrant city of Santa Barbara, California. Established in 1994 by Founding Director Rodney Gustafson, the company embodies artistic excellence, drawing exceptional dancers from around the globe to create captivating performances that push the boundaries of traditional ballet.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Megan Philipp and Executive Director Cecily MacDougall, State Street Ballet has become a hub for dance on the Central Coast, providing a home for our twenty international artists, professional trainee program, annual summer intensive, and educational outreach initiatives.

Our focus on exceptional artistic and educational programming ensures that each season presents a dynamic blend of timeless classics and innovative new works, both in Santa Barbara and abroad.

Meet the dancers

Santa Barbara City College Brass

Formed at Santa Barbara City College, the concert band, Santa Barbara City College Brass, includes some of the best players in the Santa Barbara Community. Instruments in the concert band include Flutes, Clarinets, Oboes, English Horns, Saxophones, Trumpets & Cornets, (French) Horns, Trombones, Euphoniums, Tuba, String Bass, Timpani, full Percussion section, and electronic Piano.

Nir Kabaretti

is The Santa Barbara Symphony's World-Renowned Music & Artistic Director
Nir Kabaretti has worked with some of the world’s most sought-after musicians. Some of his most well-known collaborators include Lang Lang, Placido Domingo, Joyce Di Donato, Angel Joy Blue, Vadim Repin, Gilles Apap, Hélène Grimaud, and André Watts.
