Beethoven in Bloom
Beethoven in Bloom
Presented in partnership with the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden
Saturday, February 19 | 7:30pm
Sunday, February 20 | 3:00pm
The Granada Theatre.
Join The Symphony for this special concert that honors the theme of renewal and rebirth in nature and community, and commemorates the Thomas Fire and Montecito Mudflows.
Beethoven in Bloom features The Great Circle created by Emmy® Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (House of Cards) after nearly losing his home in the Thomas Fire. His orchestral composition and visual narrative incorporates images of the devastation, the heroism of first responders, and new photographs of the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden fire restoration/foothills conservation effort, made possible by more than 100 volunteer botanists and scientists.
Beethoven in Bloom also features multi-award winning composer Jennifer Higdon’s Harp Concerto performed by Principal Harpist Michelle Temple, and Beethoven’s expressive sounds of birds fluttering, storms thundering in his most thematic work “Pastoral” from his Sixth Symphony, inspired by his strolls in nature.
