Mike is a career Financial and Accounting professional with experience working in a multitude of industries including an arts center, two hotels, a software development company, an ecommerce retailer and a country club. He is currently the CFO for Birnam Woods Golf Club in Montecito, CA.
Although Mike was born in Denver, Colorado and lived in multiple states growing up he received a Finance degree from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). After graduation, Mike worked in Vail, Colorado before spending two years in the Peace Corps as a Small Enterprise Development volunteer in Mali, West Africa. Upon returning from Mali, Mike began a less-than-successful attempt as an actor (supplementing his income as a waiter) before getting his first accounting job with the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta. Mike eventually moved to Santa Barbara and has had successful stints working at the Four Seasons Resort (The Biltmore), the Kimpton Canary Hotel, the start-up-turned-public software company, Appfolio, Inc, local E-commerce retailer, Lull Ventures, LLC and ultimately Birnam Woods.
Mike has embraced Santa Barbara and made it his home for over twenty years. Through his time in Santa Barbara, he has volunteered on committees with the United Way, served on the steering committee of the “Taste the Nation” events supporting the Santa Barbara Foodbank, attended Career days at local schools and volunteered in his daughter’s elementary school classrooms. Mike has completed two full marathons and several half marathons, but he mostly now enjoys trail running on the multitude of trails that Santa Barbara has to offer. When not running, Mike also continues to play Ultimate Frisbee (even at his age!) as much as possible.
